Greetings SF7,
I’m putting a call out for players and GMs who are able to make the July Gameday, Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of July.
We’re debating on a slight change, so I’m going to poll the players. When you reply on your attendance, please let me know which you’d rather do:
The Classic Schedule:
9 AM to 1 PM CST, 2 PM to 6 PM CST, and 7 PM to 11 PM CST
A Revised Flexibility Schedule to give an extra half an hour between events in case of overflow/issues.
8:30 AM CST to 12:30 PM CST, 2 PM to 6 PM CST, and 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM CST.
I’ll announce which time schedule we’ll go with next week. I’ll admit my personal preference is the classic schedule, but the flexible schedule has some benefits, so if there’s player demand, we’ll try the new one. Note, events should still take 4 hours, the extra time is for working through issues or slight overtime.
Premier Announcement: SPARKS 263: Live from the Outer Rim: It’s the Moppet Show! will be premiering this event. I may even run it twice if there’s demand.
If you’re interested in attending, please do the following by End of day July 10th:
1) Reply or email Tim@Bruns.com directly (do NOT just reply to this email, no need to clutter up the group).
2) Let me know what days and slots you’re interested (No comment on this will be a vote for the classic schedule)
3) Vote for the classic or revised schedule (Note, only attending players should vote, so don’t email me a vote if you’re not attending)
4) Let me know if you’re willing to Judge and what you’re willing and able to judge.
5) Let me know what events you’re able to play or what you’ve already played and if you’re OK with replay. (If you’ve sent this to me recently it’s probably OK, but getting an updated list is helpful)
Registration:
I’ll handle registration like I have previously.
1) Preregistration is by July 10th. Be sure to send me ALL the information requested above.
2) Schedule will be posted by July 11th. GMs will likely get their schedule earlier.
3) Event Registration will start July 11th once I send out the schedule. Players should send a list of top 2 events in each slots, or note why they can (or want to) only play the 1 slot.
a. This will run till July 15th at noon. After that time, I will post a public schedule of who’s signed up for what.
b. I will try to let people know what they’re in as soon as possible, but the schedule is often flexible till it’s announced.
c. GMs will get priority choices on events, events will generally be first come first serve.
d. Players who send their top 2 events will be more likely to get into events they want, as I won’t have to chase after them asking for alternatives.
e. Registration for those who did not prereg will start on July 14th. I will accept their emails, but they will not be slotted into events still July 14th.
4) GMs should send out game invites on July 16th and 17th. GMS MUST COPY ME INTO THE INVITE EMAILS! This helps me verify who has and hasn’t sent them out.
a. Players should join their game and discord ASAP
Follow the rules and communicate with me as best as possible, and I’ll get you into as many games as I can. These steps are here to reduce my work load as a con coordinator, and your assistance is much appreciated.
A reminder, here are our rules for online play:
Online Gaming System Rules
(1) Events will be prescheduled. No open events, and no walk ups. If you have not registered by the registration deadline, games are closed.
o Tables will aim for 5 attendees, max of 6. No more than 6 players under any circumstances for online play.
(2) Gamemasters will be required to use Roll20 and Discord for chat with Sparks gaming. Living on the Edge (LOTE) will require dice.skyjedi.com in addition for dice rolling.
o GMs should schedule a time to go over how to GM using Roll20 and Discord. Experience with Roll20 GMing also works.
(3) Gamemasters and Players will be required to have a stable internet connection (no voice cut outs), and equipment that will prevent things like echo, feedback, or other issues such as a headset or a podcasting/recording microphone, and not just a built in laptop mic or a phone for chat on Discord.
(4) No sharing chat equipment. Multiple Players on one connection will not be allowed.
(5) Players must be setup with Roll20 and Discord and be prepared at the start of the game session.
• Guideline: It is recommended that Players who have not played an online game should arrive for their game 15 minutes prior to have a quick tool training session.
(6) The Gamemaster will be provided with player emails, as they will need to email setup information and later advancement sheets.
(7) All Rolling will be handled on Roll20 (for Sparks) and dice.skyjedi.com (for Living on the Edge (LOTE)) by everyone except the Gamemaster. The Gamemaster can handle their rolls however they wish.
(8) There will be a form fillable advancement sheet provided. It will need to be emailed to the Gamemaster immediately after the event but can happen after the slot ends.
o GMs will not be signing them until later, just emailing them is enough to provide the GM with a snapshot.
(9) There is NOT going to be a group marshaling area, so pay attention to your emails!
(10) Online Sparks Force 7 games are only allowed under explicit permission by the SF7 Council of Elders, much like any other Gameday event. Follow all Sparks Judges Handbook Gameday event rules.
(11) Gamemasters have full authority to remove anyone from the event if they violate any rules or impact game play or player experience for any reason. The Council of Elders stands behind this ruling for the event. Any players can request a review by the Council of Elders as per standard policy after the event. Repeated offenders can be banned from online play which will require Council of Elders review.
(12) If anyone is found using hacks, cheats, cracks, sabotage, or similar methods or interference to manipulate or disrupt their own or other’s interactions with the online environment, then they will be banned from Sparks Force 7.
